The blue palette came from the idea that when his boat was submerged underwater, all he could see was an endless ocean of deep navy blue. He thought: “That’s what I’ll do if I ever get back to shore: design a deep blue handkerchief. People will dig it and I’ll land a 60 Minutes interview!"
